Information/Intake:
Saturday 29 August 2009 from hours (Open Day) and Monday 31 August, Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September 2009 from hours, and Tuesday 1 and Thursday 3 September from hours. You can get information about the courses, look at the material, do an intake-test and subscribe to the most appropriate course.
Walk-in consultation hour: from 8 September 2009 till the end of April 2010, every Tuesday from hours (except during the school holidays).

Introduction

There are three types of courses:

the regular programme, where all aspects of the Dutch language, such as grammar, writing, pronunciation and speaking are dealt with. Courses are offered at five levels, starting from First steps in Dutch and Dutch for Beginners (level 1) up to Dutch for Advanced students (level 5). Because of the growing demand the course Dutch for Beginners is offered several times in September, October, January and April. The course Voorbereiding Staatsexamen NT2 is a good preparation for students who want to apply for Staatsexamen NT2 programme 2.
the speaking programme, with short Conversation courses following the regular programme levels 1 and 2, and Spreekvaardigheid courses 3 and 4, following the regular programme levels 3 and 4.
the writing programme, with three separate courses: The Spelling and pronunciation course offers further training in the spelling and pronunciation of the Dutch language. Goed Nederlands schrijven offers training to non-Dutch speakers, and Betere teksten schrijven to native speakers and non-Dutch speakers (following level 4) who want to improve their writing skills.

Please note: Students who are absolute beginners may enrol for the courses First steps in Dutch and Dutch for Beginners without taking an entrance test. Those who want to enrol at a higher level, must meet the entry requirements or take an entrance test, either during the Open Day, the Intake-week or at the weekly walk-in consultation hour (Tuesdays hours) to determine to which course they can be admitted.

Although we offer several levels of Dutch, it is not necessary for all students to follow all of these courses in order to reach the highest level. Some students however may be advised to do a particular course twice. We have noticed that students who have little or no experience in studying languages and only speak their native tongue, will have great difficulty in following the pace and the manner in which we offer the Dutch language courses. When in doubt, please consult our teachers.
